2021 Annual Meeting Awards

Several awards were given during United Way of Etowah County's 2021 Annual Meeting.

 

Volunteer of the Year Award

This award was presented to the person who has served in so many roles for the year. He volunteers on the Day of Action; serves on the 211 Golf Tournament Committee; serves on the Board of Directors; Vice President of Community Building; he is a resource to the staff for maintenance and landscaping issues; he has been an Employee Company Coordinator on the Campaign for many years and can give a United Way presentation as well as any staff person.

Rising Star Award

The Rising Star award is given to the individual or companies that have stepped up to make a difference in every way during the campaign. This year, United Way of Etowah County honored two recipients: Randy and Sherry Cline of Absolute Respiratory and Etowah Courthouse.

Excellence in Service Award

This award is the highest campaign award presented to a company who has shown outstanding collaboration with United Way and had increased giving during the campaign.  This company made opportunities for United Way staff and/or agencies to visit each of their schools in person or by zoom last year and this year. They participate in Day of Action, the Girlfriend Gala, and volunteer during during disaster.

Tom McKenzie Community Impact Award

This award has been presented to community leaders like Tom McKenzie, Kay Moore, Ray Smith, and Peter Gregerson. It recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions not only to United Way but also to the community.  This year’s recipient is well known to everyone in the community. She has served on most every board, has raised thousands of dollars for charity and has helped to make Etowah County known in this part of the state and region.  She is a respected business leader, philanthropist, wife, mother, and loyal friend.  She has been an advisor to every leader at United Way and you will see her supporting most every event in the community.

This award honors our former Executive Director Joanne Hightower, and we know she would appreciate the loyal contributions of this gentleman to United Way for over 67 years.
