Bob Guyton, 2019-2020 Campaign Chair

The United Way's annual fall campaign is our organization's most visible time of the year. The campaign generally begins in August with a kickoff luncheon and ends in early November with a Victory Celebration.
The Campaign Chairperson and two vice-chairpersons are responsible for the success of the campaign. The Chairperson recruits a number of division chairpersons. By the time this pyramid is complete, several hundred people are involved with the campaign.
Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company has traditionally been the backbone of the campaign.  Goodyear corporate giving and employee pledges accounted for more than 19 percent of the total campaign.  In 2018, Goodyear, its associates, and USWA Local 12L gave over $275,369 to our community.
United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community. We win by living United. By forging unlikely partnerships. By finding new solutions to old problems. By mobilizing the best resources. And by inspiring individuals to join the fight against our community’s most daunting social crises. We are more than fundraisers. We are hand-raisers. Game-changers. When we Live United, we take on challenges and tackle problems right here in Etowah County. Problems others shy away from. Here are just a few of the ways our game-changers have changed Etowah County for the better:
     •    Sixty-one year old Vicki was very sick with cancer.  Through the Etowah County Home Health program, Vicki was connected to MANNA for meal delivery, Council on Aging for nutritional supplements and Etowah Baptist Missions Center for food.  This collaboration allowed Vicki to remain in her home safely and improve her quality of life.
     •    Alex was at risk of dropping out of high school.  The Gadsden Community Education Program worked with Alex to enroll in a Second Chance Program, recover credits and attend a virtual classroom.  She was able to graduate with her classmates.

United Way is fighting the fight and scoring big wins. With your help, we can do even more. So become a hand-raiser or a game-changer.  Because United we fight, United we win. We have one life. To live better, we must Live United.

United Way of Etowah County salutes its friends, who, through their gifts of time and money, have invested in our community and are making a positive impact on people's lives. Thank you for your involvement in our community.
